Students have an aspirational trip to Manchester City FC’s Etihad Stadium and Campus

The day was arranged to reward students hard work in preparing for their upcoming exams.

Students from the Year 13 Sports BTEC group walked around the Women’s stadium and check out the Academy facilities, pitches and training areas. The first part of the day was designed to tie in with the student’s career progressions and UCAS application process. They then received a presentation about the degree level courses that are run at the campus in connection with the club and Manchester Met University.

After that students walked across the footbridge that connects the campus to the main stadium and were given a bespoke tour including the player's arrival area, changing rooms, suites, players tunnel and dugouts. Lots of details were given about the thought that went into the planning and design of the changing rooms relating to the psychology of both sets of players. Several of our students picked out the seats that they sat in when BCFC played here in the Carabao Cup semi-final.

Students played against the Man City Foundation select team and played on the famous “Blue” pitch. It was a really tough opposition who were coached by former Man City first-team striker John Macken. A hard fixture but the player's attitudes were exceptional until the end. A lesson for us to aspire to at the home of the Premier League Champions, and hopefully one that our students will remember.
