Striker Diony joins on loan

City have completed the loan signing of Saint-Etienne striker Loïs Diony for the remainder of the season.

The 25-year-old becomes the club’s third recruit of the January window after passing a medical and putting pen to paper on the loan agreement.

City also have the option to make the deal permanent at the end of the campaign.

Head coach Lee Johnson told “Loïs is a very interesting signing for us.

“He boasts a good record in France and I believe he has all the attributes to be a big success for us in the Championship.”

Diony joined Saint-Etienne in the summer from Dijon for a reported £9m, having scored 11 goals to help keep ‘The Mustards’ in Ligue 1.

He made his professional debut for FC Nantes back in 2012, before joining his hometown club Mont-de-Marsan.

Diony went on to help Dijon secure promotion to Ligue 1, top scoring for the team in 2015/16 and 2016/17.

Subject to international clearance, Diony will be available to make his debut against QPR on Saturday in the Sky Bet Championship, having watched his new teammates in action at Ashton Gate against Manchester City in midweek.

Tickets remain on general sale for Saturday's home clash with Ian Holloway's QPR (3pm kick-off).

It's a silver category game, with seats available to purchase by calling 0117 963 0600 or online.
