What to expect from FIT ROBINS

Based within Ashton Gate Stadium, FIT ROBINS is a completely free health and wellbeing initiative which aims to promote healthy living and help City fans lose weight.

The programme achieves this by helping participants:

  • Improve their eating habits by reducing portion sizes and swapping fatty and sugary foods for fruit, vegetables and high fibre foods.
  • Achieve at least 45 minutes of moderate intensity physical activity on most days of the week.
  • Participants will receive weekly exercise sessions for 12 weeks, and follow a personal pedometer-based walking programme which further encourages them to fit physical activity into their daily lives.
  • FIT ROBINS uses tried-and-tested behaviour change techniques to help participants become more active and improve their diet. These include regular self-monitoring of their weight and pedometer step counts and setting SMART goals to make changes that can be sustained long term.

Brian’s story:

After being diagnosed with diabetes, Brian Packer decided to make a change to his lifestyle and improve his health by joining the Foundation’s health and wellbeing programme FIT ROBINS. Just 6 months - and three and a half stone later - the Bristol City fan is feeling fitter and healthier than ever before.

During the first 12 weeks of the FIT ROBINS programme, Brian lost a staggering 10% of his starting weight and continued on this positive trajectory after lockdown restrictions were implemented, losing a further stone.

The health benefits of the FIT ROBINS programme have not stopped there for Brian. Thanks to the FIT ROBINS programme and the healthier lifestyle that Brian now leads as a result of the programme, his blood sugar level has returned to a healthy range and Mr Packer is no longer diabetic.

“FIT ROBINS has really helped me in my weight loss and fitness journey. It’s great that the team I support & love has put so much time and effort into helping its fans to improve their health.” Brian told the Foundation.

“The coaching team have been superb, making exercise fun through sporting activities and giving us the knowledge to make better food and lifestyle decisions. I’ve lost more than 10% of my weight since the start the programme and feel much healthier and more energetic as a result.”
