We have an exciting opportunity to work within the education department at Bristol City Robins Foundation, lecturing and coaching on our BTEC Sport – Football Education programme.

Salary: £18,500 - £24,000 (Depending on experience and qualifications)

Bristol City Robins Foundation is a registered charity, which strives to make a positive difference for all through sport and learning. We recognise the positive impact we have on the community but are continually looking to develop and expand our reach.

We require two full time Sports Lecturers for our Post 16 BTEC Football Education programme working within the Education Department.

The post holder will be based at City Academy school and Ashton Gate Stadium where purpose-built classrooms and sports facilities are evident, meaning the environment is perfect for developing young people on and off of the course, while also developing personally.

Your Main Responsibilities:

  • To enthuse, motive and engage with young people.
  • To deliver a BTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma in Sport (RQF) or BTEC Level 2 in Sport course to a group of 20 students (maximum) which includes planning and marking along with reporting progress to parents and school partners.
  • To deliver engaging football sessions twice per week and manage a team in the CEFA football league every Wednesday.
  • To organise, facilitate and be accountable for students representing the club on match days.
  • To facilitate and organise a work experience programme to support the student’s development.
  • To increase the number of students we develop on our programme through supporting recruitment in schools, clubs and at careers events during evenings and weekends.
  • To engage with local schools, businesses and organisations to build awareness of and involvement in the programme.
  • To undertake appropriate continuing personal and professional development, including engagement in education programmes.
  • To contribute to the timely review of the programme, ensuring development and growth of the programme.

You will have:

  • A teaching qualification (or willing to work towards)
  • Experience in teaching or delivery of education programmes, specifically a BTEC specification, therefore you need to be of graduate calibre.
  • Ability to deliver dynamic and challenging lessons and football sessions which inspire students and ensure they make rapid and sustained progress at all levels.
  • Ability to provide clarity, direction and inspiration of what can be achieved for Post-16 students.
  • Expect and uphold the highest standards of students in order to inspire students to work at target grade or higher.
  • You must be able to work under pressure, handle multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
  • An ability to set high personal standards and work calmly and effectively in an environment characterised by high level of ambiguity and complexity.
  • Ability to communicate with staff, students and partners in a clear, concise and purposeful way to build effective relationships.

We would also like you to have:

  • A positive, can-do attitude.
  • FA Level 1 and/or 2 Football Coaching Qualification
  • A D1 on your driving license allowing you to drive a minibus.
  • A keen interest in sport.
  • Experience with a range of ages and students/participants.

This position is full time (37.5 hours per week) from August 2021, but candidates will be expected to put time into self-development immediately. Candidates must be willing to work occasional evenings and weekends. The role will be offered subject to an Enhanced DBS check and self-disclosure form.
