Kieran Agard believes the spirit of the City squad earned them a point against Leeds United last night.
The visitors looked set to take three points back to Yorkshire after goals from Mirco Antenucci and Chris Wood either side of half-time.
However, Agard sparked a City comeback with a smart finish in the 89th minute before Aden Flint’s dramatic equaliser in the dying embers of the game.
City’s fight and unity was an admirable trait last term in League One and Agard feels the belief of the squad still remains.
“You have to be optimistic and hungry and always believe you’re going to get a result,” he told Bristol City Player HD.
“The boys showed great character and great team spirit – which has been here since last season.
“The new boys have come in and taken it on board too.”
Agard got another 20 minutes under his belt on his return from a knee injury, sustained before the start of pre-season.
The striker notched his first goal of the campaign with a low drive into the bottom corner and shared his joy of being back in the mix.
“I’m delighted to be out there and scoring,” he said.
“Obviously it’s been a bit frustrating in pre-season but I thank the medical staff and everyone around the club for getting me back to fitness.
