Smith undergoes surgery

Korey Smith has undergone a successful knee operation.

The midfielder is now expected to miss between four and six months of action after he limped off during City's Sky Bet Championship clash with Middlesbrough at Ashton Gate.

The injury lay-off was confirmed by head coach Lee Johnson, following his side's convincing 3-0 win against QPR tonight (Tuesday, August 21st).

"We all feel for Korey," Johnson told bcfc.co.uk.

He added: "I’m gutted for him, he's had his operation and he’s out for between four and six months. It’s not ideal because not only is he a very good player but he’s a character and leader in our dressing room."

The club wishes Smith well for a full and speedy recovery.
