Korey Smith has returned to full training, Lee Johnson has confirmed.
Korey Smith has returned to full training, Lee Johnson has confirmed.
The midfielder has been out of action since undergoing surgery on an ankle problem at the end of April.
Johnson said on BBC Radio Bristol’s Sound of the City: "Korey Smith trained yesterday for the first time in full and looked very, very sharp which is good.
"I know the fans will be delighted to hear that because he’s an important player for us.”
City’s only other injury concern is Adam Matthews who suffered a hamstring injury in the defeat to Newcastle United at Ashton Gate.
The right-back has spent a month on the sidelines and will return to training next week.
"Adam Matthews we’re expecting to train probably at the back end of next week,” Johnson said.
"Derby will probably come too soon for him but after that we expect him to be back in the first team mix."
