Shrews in City sights

Lee Johnson has confirmed City will be well prepared for tomorrow night’s Emirates FA Cup third round replay (Tuesday, 7.45pm kick-off).

The Robins travel to Montgomery Waters Meadow on the back of a Sky Bet Championship win, as they prepare to battle it out for a mouthwatering fourth round home tie with current Premier League leaders Liverpool.

City drew 1-1 with the Shrews at Ashton Gate just nine days ago, as Sean Goss’ driven strike canceled out Famara Diédhiou’s header, but the head coach believes the ‘prize’ awaiting the victors will be crucial in Shropshire.

“We know the prize,” Johnson said. “We want it for the fans, we want to be successful for the fans.

“We’re well rested and we know the prize. Obviously Shrewsbury know the prize as well and the boys want to compete to pit their wits against one of, if not the best side in the world.”

“We’re under no illusions how difficult it will be. It’s a heavy pitch and we’ve got to be at it from the start but we’re looking forward to it though.

“We will try our very best, I can assure everyone we’ll be taking it very seriously and we need to be better than we were in the home game.”

To date, over 1,200 tickets have been sold for the fixture.
