Salmon ready to feed off the energy of a big crowd

City Women sharpshooter Ebony Salmon believes a noisy crowd will give the players more energy and motivation for Monday night’s FA Cup clash at Everton (7:30pm).

Salmon and co return to BS3 for the first time since the opening weekend of the 2019/20 Barclays FAWSL season, where they played out a 0-0 draw in front of a record crowd of over 3,000.

The 19-year-old feels as though her side will feel more at home when they take on Everton on Monday night having got used to the Ashton Gate surroundings throughout the season.

“I think it’s good to have a game at Ashton Gate under the lights. It’s a great occasion for us and against Everton, we know it’s a team we’re going to have a good game against, but we know we have an opportunity to advance to the next round,” said Salmon.

“We’ve had one game this season at Ashton Gate already, but the FA Cup under the lights I don’t think anyone else would have wanted to play it anywhere else, so it’ll give us a lot of motivation going into the game."

“From the Man City game we obviously didn’t get the result that we wanted but it was a really good performance with a lot of positives to take from the game, so we’ll try to take them into Monday night.

“The first game of the season at Ashton Gate was our first time playing there for a lot of us, where as now we’ve all got used to it and watched a few of the men’s game there a few times so we’re used to our surroundings, so it’ll kind of feel like we’re more at home.

“Playing in front of any crowd is good, but when it is a big crowd it gives you more motivation, especially a home crowd it gives you a lot of motivation and confidence going into the game.”
