Robins Under-23s win at U's

Second-half goals from Sam Bell and James Morton fired City to a 2-0 win over Oxford United Under-21s.

Oxford United started well but couldn't capitalise in a strong first half at the Oxford Sports Park.

Robins keeper Harvey Wiles-Richards pulled off the saves to give City the springboard to gain confidence, and chances soon followed for the likes of Bell, Tommy Conway and Opi Edwards.

They came back for the second-half a different side with more effective pressing and they got their reward around 10 minutes into the half when Bell capitalised on a loose pass before beating the keeper one-on-one.

The young Robins went on to dominate and create more chances with another goal coming through Morton, who picked out the bottom corner to finish off a good passing move.

And they could have extended the lead when Edwards went close with a free kick, while striker Louis Britton hit the post.

The match was played behind closed doors.

City Under-21s: Wiles-Richards, J Taylor, Harper (Soady 76), Towler, Harrison, Morton, Edwards, Benarous (S Pearson 60), Bell, Conway (Britton 60), Owers (Scott 76). Subs not used: Buse.
