Bristol City and Bristol City Women are proud to show their support for LGBT inclusivity this weekend.
The Robins host Birmingham City at Ashton Gate tomorrow in the Sky Bet Championship (December 5th, 3pm KO) while City Women travel to take on Reading in the WSL on Sunday (December 6th, 2pm KO).
The fixtures will be the club’s annual Rainbow Laces game and the focus of this year’s campaign is ensuring a safe, welcoming and inclusive environment as clubs across the EFL collectively work to Make Sport Everyone’s Game.
Rainbow corner flags and substitution boards will be used by clubs at their selected fixture to highlight their continued support for LGBT fans, players and staff across the game.
To mark the occasion on Saturday, Robins TV will also be speaking with Bristol City Panthers chairperson Rob Parry-Hall on the live matchday show.
Bristol City Panthers are an LGBT+ friendly team which is associated with the club through the Robins Foundation’s ‘We Are City’ project. The association, which was one of the first in the country to occur – was formed in 2018.
To learn more about the Panthers who play in the National GFSN (Gay Football Supporters Network) league, supporters can secure a Robins TV matchday pass here for just £10.
The EFL and Women’s Super League’s support for Rainbow Laces forms part of its wider LGBT work and anti-discrimination campaign, ‘Not Today or Any Day’ which continues to raise awareness of the issue and the zero-tolerance approach to discrimination and prejudiced behaviour by the League and its clubs.
Bristol City are proud to support this campaign and reminds its supporters that if they witness or experience any discriminative behaviour, they should report it via the Kick It Out app.
