Since the start of lockdown, the Robins Foundation and the charities across the Bristol Sport group have delivered more than 50,000 meals, with a further 2,000 being distributed in December.
When the country first went into lockdown back in March, the Bristol Sport Group was quick to adjust to the realities of the new normal, and whilst Ashton Gate was unable to open its doors to supporters, the stadium became a hive of charitable activity.
The group formed a partnership with FareShare South West which saw Ashton Gate become the hub for a large-scale food distribution effort. With the support of a team of fantastic volunteers, the sporting charities - Bristol City Robins Foundation, Bristol Bears Community Foundation and Bristol Sport Foundation – all came together to deliver more than 50,000 meals to the most vulnerable in the local community.
An effort which was recognised last week, in the annual South West Business Leader Awards, with the sporting group winning the special Covid-19 Business Hero Award for 2020.
Now, the Robins Foundation is resuming its food delivery efforts and providing 2000 meals worth of food to those most in need this December.
Whilst the Christmas period is a time of celebration for many of us, for the most vulnerable in our community it is a particularly difficult time.

Since FareShare SW first began using Ashton Gate as the centre for their food delivery effort in March, more than 1.5 million meals worth of food have been delivered across the region.
The legacy of Bristol Sport’s partnership with Fare Share SW continues with the organisation set to distribute food for a further one million meals from its new Ashton Gate base this winter.
