Bristol City are excited to announce the signing of Chris Martin.
The experienced Championship frontman - who arrives as a free agent having departed Derby County in the summer - has agreed a two-year deal in BS3, with the option of a further 12 months.
Martin is Dean Holden’s second signing of the transfer window after Joe Williams and, with 74 goals in 211 appearances since signing permanently for Derby County in 2013, he will bolster the club’s attacking options going into the 2020/21 season.
City Chief Executive Mark Ashton said: “On behalf of everyone at Bristol City, I’d like to welcome Chris to the club. He is another important element of our recruitment for the season.”
Head Coach Holden added: “Chris will really add to our striker options and we’re excited about what he will bring to the group. He’s a proven and experienced goal-scorer at Championship level and we can’t wait to get him on the grass with us. Having met with him, I was impressed by his hunger and desire to play for Bristol City and I am sure he will make a significant contribution to what we want to achieve.”
Martin started his career at Norwich City and experienced loan spells with Luton Town, Crystal Palace, Swindon Town and Derby County.
Having impressed during his time at Pride Park, he signed on a full-time basis for The Rams in 2013 and made a telling contribution to Derby County either side of temporary stints at Fulham, Reading and Hull City.
Pat Lam has confirmed his 36-man squad for the Bears’ first pre-season friendly of the 2022/23 season against Brive in Saint-Affrique on Friday night (7.45pm KO BST).
