Bristol City has appointed Richard Gould as the club’s new Chief Executive Officer.
Gould, son of former City player Bobby, joins from Surrey County Cricket Club where he has been CEO since 2011.
A former tank commander in the British Army, Gould was educated at Bristol Grammar School and the Royal Military Academy, Sandhurst, Cranfield University and Harvard Business School.
Gould was Commercial Director of Bristol City between June 2001 and June 2005 before joining Somerset County Cricket Club for five years as CEO and then moving to the Kia Oval.
The 51-year-old will arrive at Ashton Gate in mid-June and City Chairman Jon Lansdown said: “Richard has the right skills and qualities we need. He has a sport, military and business background, as well as a strong local connection, and we have no doubt that he is the right person to lead this club forward.”
Richard Gould, who attended today's Under-23s Professional Development League play-off semi-final at Ashton Gate, said: “I am really excited to be returning to Bristol City and the area. I understand the scale of ambition and also the energy required to fulfil that. There is a lot of hard work ahead and I am looking forward to meeting the challenges we face alongside Steve, Jon, Nigel and the rest of the club.”
