📝 Report: Weston-super-Mare 3-2 City U23s

The Under-23s returned to familiar ground but ended on the losing side in a 3-2 defeat to Weston-super-Mare.

Marlee Francois - pictured - and Prince Henry were on the scoresheet for the young Robins, with Francois opening the scores at the Optima Stadium.

Fresh from scoring at the Robins High Performance Centre last week, Francois found the back of the net when he picked out the top corner from 18 yards.

It had been a close start to the game in truth with both sides hitting the woodwork and Weston eventually levelled from a corner through a Sam Avery header.

City would retake the lead shortly int the second half though. They opted for a short free kick and when the ball swung towards the back post, it was played across goal where Henry was on hand to put the ball over the line.

The lead was short-lived when Scott Laird powered Weston level again before they took the lead through Dayle Grubb's free kick.

The Under-23s will be back in action on Friday, July 30th when they take on Hungerford Town (7.45pm KO).
