📝 Report: Watford Under-23s 2-4 Bristol City Under-23s

A hat-trick from Ayman Benarous inspired City’s Under-23s to victory over Watford Under-23s in the Professional Development League 2.

City Under-23s went into the game full of confidence after beating Cinderford Town 4-1 in the Gloucestershire Senior Challenge Cup first round.

What happened

Benarous bagged his first goal of the afternoon inside the opening 10 minutes as the striker’s deflected free-kick wrong-footed Watford keeper Vincent Angelini to hand the Robins an early lead.

Jimiel Chikukwa then levelled the scoring as he curled the ball into the far corner of the net from 15-yards out.

With the scores level at the break, Watford would be the first to take the lead in the second half as Ryan Cassidy converted a low cross.

Sam Pearson then pulled the young Robins level after tucking home at the far post.

Soon after, Benarous secured his second and in some style as the youngster picked out the top corner from the edge of the box.

The marksman was on the hunt for his third and he wasn’t to be denied. He robbed the ball from a Watford defender to finish with aplomb past Angelini and wrap up all three points
