City Under-23s suffered a 4-0 defeat on the road to a young Watford side.
Luke Williams' side faced a mountain to climb at half-time, when they found themselves 3-0 down, with the Hornets adding to the scoreline after the break in the Professional Development League match.
Harry Forster opened the scoring with an unstoppable shot after just eight minutes, with Dion Pereira finding the bottom corner to double the host's lead. Michael Folivi added the third, via the woodwork, on the stroke of half-time, before adding his second of the game on the hour-mark.
Up next for City U23s is a home tie with Ipswich Town on Monday, October 29th (7pm).
