Report: Taunton Town 3-1 Bristol City Under-23s

City Under-23s fell to a 3-1 pre-season friendly defeat to Taunton Town last night (Monday, August 7th).

Jens Hegeler captained the development group as he continued his return from injury and it was Luke Williams’ side who flew out the traps and took the lead in the sixth minute.

Following a neatly worked corner routine, Connor Lemonheigh-Evans picked up possession on the edge of the area and drilled an effort beyond the helpless Lloyd Irish.

However, the game was turned on its head in seven second-half minutes as Ryan Brett’s free kick nestled into the top corner before Rocky Neal found a way past Alhaji Sesay.

The hosts extended their lead in the 75th minute when Pierce Mitchell’s long-range strike found its way to Neal, who secured his brace with a well-placed header.

The young Robins get their competitive season underway on Monday (August 13th) when they travel to Bolton Wanderers.
