📝 Report: QPR Under-23s 3-4 Bristol City Under-23s

City Under-23s were able to survive a late fight back to mark their return to league action with a victory in West London.

Goals from Robbie Cundy, Sam Pearson, Louis Britton and Tommy Backwell proved to be enough to hold on to the three points.

THE BACKGROUND

The young Robins were looking to bounce back after a narrow 3-2 defeat in the GFA Cup last week at Cirencester Town.

It was their first Professional Development League 2 game since November, when they drew 1-1 away to Millwall.

WHAT HAPPENED

The young Robins had a dream start when skipper Cundy powered a header home in just the eighth minute of the match.

Later in the half, the lead was doubled when Pearson was able to convert following Taylor-Clarke’s pass.

Britton ensured City continued to make their dominance count immediately after half-time when he chipped his penalty kick down the middle, before Tommy Blackwell’s left-footed strike further extended the young Robins’ lead.

Rangers were able to pull three goals back before the end of the game, but City’s clinical finishing gave them a big enough of margin to see out the win.

THE TEAM

Wiles-Richards (GK), Taylor, Soady, Owers (Hutton 75), Williams, Cundy (Knight-Lebel 75), Pearson, Taylor-Clarke, Britton, Backwell, Henry (Palmer-Houlden 75). Unused: Boyd, Owusu-Antwi
