Jade Boho Sayo scored the only goal of the game as Bristol Academy claimed their first WSL1 win of the season.
Boho Sayo nodded in after an initial Bristol Academy shot was blocked by Notts County defender Amy Turner in the 22nd minute.
The Spanish-born Equatorial Guinean International striker has proven to be a shrewd bit of business by Vixens boss Willie Kirk, scoring five goals in her first four games since joining in July.
Notts County will be wondering how they lost a game in which they had much the better chances, with Dunia Susi guilty of missing a gilt-edged chance in the second half, heading the ball against the post with the goal gaping.
Aileen Whelan also had a goal ruled out for offside as the home side threw the proverbial kitchen sink at the Vixens, although Boho Sayo came mightily close to doubling Bristol's lead with a vicious shot from way out rattling the Notts County bar.
A solid defensive performance saw Kirk's side hold out to claim their first win of the WSL1 season to keep touch with relegation rivals Birmingham, who sit one place and one point above them in seventh.
