City Under-23s overcame Crystal Palace 2-0 to win for the fifth successive game.
An own goal from Palace defender Michael Phillips and Opi Edwards’ late goal was enough for Alex Ball’s side in South London.
It means they head into next week’s Central League Cup final at Barnet (Wednesday, May 10th) in high spirits.
The opening goal arrived ten minutes before half-time when Diego De Girolamo’s cross was sliced past his own goalkeeper by Phillips.
Levi Lumeka and Jonathan Benteke – the younger brother of Christian – both had chances for the home team after the break.
But the result was beyond doubt when Edwards fired home nine minutes from time. The youngster produced a darting run to get clear on goal and finished with aplomb past the keeper.
“It’s great to finish the league campaign with another win and now we want to really end of the season on a high in the cup final next week,” said coach Ball.
City Under-23s: Wollacott, Harper, Harvey Smith, Kelly, Pring, Edwards (Martinez 85), Morrell, Dowling, J.Smith (Nurse 88), De Girolamo (Morton 65), Hinds.
Siva Naulago's stunning second against Worcester Warriors has been shortlisted for The Famous Grouse Gallagher Premiership Try of the Week for round 12.
