Report: Coventry City U23s 0-2 Bristol City U23s

City Under-23s slipped to a 2-0 defeat at the hands of Coventry City this afternoon.

Jamie McAllister’s side succumbed to a goal on the stroke of half-time, as Jak Hickman cut in from the flank and curled the ball into the far corner.

City had their chances, with Diego De Girolmao hitting the woodwork just after the restart. Shawn McCoulsky went close with a header that dropped narrowly wide and De Girolamo passed up another good opportunity as the half wore on.

However, the killer second goal came 13 minutes from time as Cian Harries pounced to convert Bilal Sayoud’s low cross.

"Our quality wasn't there today," admitted coach McAllister. "We made three changes at half-time and we performed better in that second period. We had the chances but couldn't take them and got punished in the end.

"It's been tough because we've had a lot of games recently with a small squad, and plenty of away journeys as well, with another fixture coming up this week."

The Under-23s return to action again on Thursday at Swansea City in the PL2 Cup.

City Under-23s: Wollaott, Harper, Challis, Lyons-Foster, Kelly, McNulty (Downing 46), Morrell, Pring (J.Smith 46), Andrews (McCoulsky 46), De Girolamo, Hinds.
