Two quick goals helped Charlton Athletic to a 3-1 win over Bristol City’s development group on Monday afternoon.
Sam Bell would grab a consolation goal in this Professional Development League fixture as City piled on some late pressure, but it was the Addicks who held on to the three points at Princes Park.
The hosts took a half-time lead through Brendan Wiredu’s header and there will be disappointment in the Robins camp after conceding two goals in as many minutes in the second half.
Charlton doubled the lead when Aaron Henry’s delivery evaded everyone and crept in and moments later Hady Ghandour broke through and chipped Harvey Wiles-Richards in the City goal.
Sam Pearson and Alex Scott both went agonisingly close as the young Robins fought back, before Bell struck from Scott’s cross.
Next up for Alex Ball’s side is a trip to face QPR on Tuesday, December 15th (1pm KO).
City: Wiles-Richards, Harper, Z Bell, Taylor, Allen Owers, Z Smith, Allen, S Pearson, Bell, Francois (Benarous, 75). Subs not used: Henry, Smith, Williams.
We are excited to welcome supporters safely back to Ashton Gate with the launch of the 2021/22 Bristol Bears Season Card package.
