Two goals just before half-time earned City Under-18s an impressive victory at Charlton Athletic on Saturday.
Trevor Challis’ side got back to winning ways thanks to efforts from Vince Harper and Marcus Day.
Harper grabbed the opener on 40 minutes, volleying in from a corner that Zak Smith floated towards the back post.
Two minutes later Day wriggled space in the penalty area to slot a low shot into the far corner.
In windy conditions in South London, City’s defence had to stand firm after half-time, which they did in fine fashion.
“That’s our third win in four games and we really had to work hard for it,” Challis said. “The defence deserve immense credit because it wasn’t easy in those conditions.”
City Under-18s: Sainsbury, Turner-Williams, Ali (Turner), Hall (S.Pearson), Burford, Spark, Rees, Harry Smith, V.Harper, Z.Smith, Day.
Andreas Kapoulas has stressed the importance of maintaining his side’s momentum after qualifying for the BBL play-offs.
