City Under-18s suffered a 2-0 defeat in the Severnside derby at Cardiff City, despite hitting the woodwork four times.
The game was goalless at the break, despite City peppering the home goal.
Ricardo Rees fired against the post before Antonie Semenyo’s stunning attempt being pushed against the woodwork by the Cardiff keeper.
Just before half-time Jack Spark guided a header against the upright.
City continued in similar vein after the interval when Rees darted towards goal and rattled a low shot against the foot of the post.
Against the run of Sion Spence fired the home side in front on the hour mark, before Isaak Davies sealed the victory with a driven effort ten minutes later.
Coach Trevor Challis said: “I don’t think I’ve ever been involved a game like it. It was one of those where we had to take our chances, otherwise we ran the risk of being punished.
“They scored from two transitional breakaways to get the victory and it’s really disappointing.”
City Under-18s: Sainsbury, Turner-Williams, Turner, Spark, Ali, Rees, Harry Smith (Hall), Z.Smith, Day (S.Pearson), Semenyo, V. Harper (Mortimore). Subs not used: Begovic, Webb.
