Bristol City Under-23s returned to winning ways with a confident 2-0 win over Ipswich Town at the Optima Stadium.
After a close first half, Zac Smith opened the scoring mid-way through the second half before Sam Bell converted from the penalty spot.
The victory now means Alex Balls young Robins have six wins from their opening eight games of the season.
Striker Bell tested the Ipswich keeper early on as he drove at the Tractor Boys defence in the ninth minute, but his shot was well saved by Bert White.
One of the best first half chances fell to City after Alex Scott picked up a loose ball. He ran at goal before laying off for Zac Smith but he couldn’t keep his shot down.
The development group took full control in the second half though and it was Smith who opened the scoring, picking the ball up from Bell after some great football down the right-hand side, slotting the ball home with ease.
Not long after, Bell was brought down in the area and the striker picked himself up and made no mistake from the penalty spot.
City now face a trip to South East London to face Charlton Athletic on Monday, November 30th.
City: Wiles-Richards, Harper, Allen, Z Bell, Taylor, Owers, S Pearson, Scott (Henry), S Bell, Z Smith, Francois (Hadji). Subs not used: Williams, L Smith, Benarous.
With just a few days to go until Elton John plays at Ashton Gate, concert-goers are urged to take advantage of special event Shuttle Buses laid on to help get fans to and from the stadium.
