Arnold Garita’s second-half goal was enough to give Bristol City Under-21s a 1-0 win at Hungerford Town.
The big Cameroonian forward fired the only goal of the game on 55 minutes to make it two pre-season wins in two for Jamie McAllister’s side.
Hungerford came the closest in a first half lacking in clear-cut opportunities, firing a shot against the crossbar.
But City were much the stronger team after the break and ten minutes after the restart Garita broke the deadlock.
Wollacott’s long pass was flicked on by Shawn McCoulsky for Garita to chase. The striker – recently on trial at Oldham Athletic – charged down a defender’s clearance to race through, lobbed the ball over the goalkeeper and slotted home into the empty net.
McCoulsky, who scored a brace at Clevedon in midweek, came close to doubling the advantage, and there were further opportunities for Connor Lemonheigh-Evans as the game wore on.
In the end Garita’s goal proved to be enough on a warm day in Hungerford.
City Under-21s: Wollacott, Kelly (Trialist), Challis (Harper), Baldwin (Lyons-Foster), Harris (Trialist), Morrell, Dowling (Trialist), McCoulsky, Lemonheigh-Evans (Difford), Andrews (Moss), Garita (Omofe).
