Report: Bristol City U23s 0-2 Nottingham Forest U23s

City Under-23s slipped to a 2-0 defeat at the hands of Nottingham Forest in Bath this afternoon.

A goal in each half, from Yassine En-Neyah and Vigil Gomis, earned all three points for the visitors. 

In a great game for any neutral, chances were plentiful in the development league encounter. 

Forest broke the deadlock after just 11 minutes as En-Neyah dashed through the middle and slotted past Jojo Wollacott with aplomb. 

Harrison Reeves set up Freddie Hinds for the home team’s first chance but the former Luton Town striker fired over from ten yards. 

Diego De Girolamo also went close from an acute angle, before Wollacott produced a superb save at the other end to ensure it remained 1-0 at the break. 

City thought they had equalised in the 50th minute when Kodi Lyons-Foster lifted the ball into the net, but Jonny Smith was adjudged to have fouled the keeper in the build-up. 

To make matters worse, Forest made it two moments later. Gomis wriggled his way into a dangerous position and dispatched the ball past Wollacott in cool fashion. 

Joe Worrall and En-Neyah both had further chances to score late on, only to be denied by the impressive Wollacott, who kept the score respectable. 

City Under-23s: Wollacott; Harris, Lyons-Foster, Parsons, Pring (Harper 26); Jonny Smith, Reeves (Richards 84), McNulty, De Girolamo; Bascome (Akpobire 51), Hinds. Subs not used: Sesay, Harvey Smith.
