City Under-18s recorded an impressive 2-1 victory over Cardiff City at Filton on Saturday.
Kel Akpobire hit both goals, one in each half, as Trevor Challis secured the bragging rights in the Severnside derby.
Akpobire pounced to open the scoring after 25 minutes, finishing under the goalkeeper who had fumbled Opi Edwards’ dipping cross.
The Bluebirds levelled the score ten minutes later with a close-range finish.
However, City took advantage of more sloppy defending from the visitors after the interval to seal all three points.
A loose backpass was pounced upon by Akpobire, who saw the keeper in no man’s land and lofted the ball into the unguarded net.
“We’ve got a number of players back now and we’re delighted with the result,” said coach Challis.
“It was a good, hard-working, gritty performance from the lads.”
City Under-18s: Robertson, Williams, Harvey Smith, Harry Smith (Turner), Ali, Akpobire, Richards, Reeves, Rees, Harper (Allen), Edwards (Day).
