City Under-18s slipped to a 1-0 defeat at the hands of Colchester United on Saturday.
After scoring 12 times in their last two outings, Trevor Challis’ side were unable to find a breakthrough at SGS College.
Cameron Allen went close with a couple of long-range free kicks and Jack Spark flashed an acrobatic volley over the top.
The game was ultimately decided just before half-time as Colchester bundled the ball home from a scrambled free kick.
“It was a messy goal to concede. On this occasion we huffed and puffed, didn’t really create enough goalscoring opportunities to get back into the game,” Challis said.
City Under-18s: Sainsbury, Turner-Williams, Towler, Hall (Harry Smith), Turner, Spark, Rees, Ali, Allen, Day, V.Harper (K.Smith).
