A youthful City Under-18s held their Sheffield Wednesday counterparts to a goalless draw on Saturday.
Trevor Challis included six under-16s in his team for the Filton-based contest and they were unfortunate not come away with all three points.
Kieran Smith went close in the first half but was denied by the Owls goalkeeper in a one-on-one situation.
Marcus Day clipped the post with a shot from the edge of the box after half-time.
Coach Challis said: “It was a very positive performance from the lads and bodes well for the future.”
