📝 Report: Bristol City 2-3 Huddersfield Town

Two Andi Weimann strikes weren’t enough as goals from Duane Holmes, Daniel Sinani and Danny Ward saw Huddersfield take all three points back to West Yorkshire.

BACKGROUND

City made one change from the side that travelled to Hull City last Saturday with Ayman Benarous coming into the side for his fourth start of the season in place of Callum O’Dowda, who has a tight groin. Tommy Conway made the bench for the first time this season after being side lined through injury.

WHAT HAPPENED

City took the lead after just 90 seconds as Antoine Semenyo pounced on a defensive error, and his driven cross was slotted in at the back post by top scorer Andi Weimann.

Dan Bentley made a good save from a long-range Scott High shot, but Zak Vyner was judged to have fouled Lewis O’Brien on the follow-up, and the referee pointed to the spot.

City’s captain was at hand again however, as he got down to his left hand side to make an incredible save from Danny Ward’s penalty and keep the hosts’ lead intact.

Semenyo then went close himself when he cushioned the ball down and shot on the half-volley, but his effort went just wide.

City’s number 18 was causing havoc for the visiting defenders, and he saw his latest effort saved by Lee Nicholls’ legs.

Huddersfield equalised just before half-time with their first real chance of the afternoon, as Duane Holmes got on the end of a Harry Toffolo pass and slotted past Bentley.

Ayman Benarous was teed up by Semenyo at the other end, but the teenager, who was operating at left wing-back, sliced his shot wide.

The Terriers took the lead within a minute of the restart when Daniel Sinani found himself in space, and hit the back of the net with his left footed shot.

Semenyo went close yet again but saw his left-footed strike cannon off the post and away.

Danny Ward further extended Huddersfield’s lead when he headed Sorba Thomas’ home at the back post.

Han-Noah Massengo then saw his header comfortably saved by Nicholls.

Massengo’s first time effort from distance stung the palms of Nicholls and Weimann couldn't connect with the rebound.

Substitutes combined as Nahki Wells got on the end of a Cam Pring cross, only to see his header loop over.

Weimann got a consolation for City when he found the bottom corner after good work from Semenyo.
