City started their pre-season with a 2-0 win over Cheltenham Town at the Robins High Performance Centre.
The Robins were able to get their pre-season off to a winning start thanks to second half goals from George Tanner and Tommy Conway
Nigel Pearson brought three of City's four new signings into the side to take on Wade Elliot's Cheltenham Town with Kane WIlson, Kal Naismith and Mark Sykes straight into the starting XI.
The first chance fell to the Robins with Wilson's cross finding Chris Martin but his headed effort was just over the bar.
It was then the visitors who pushed forward but Callum Ebanks' effort did not test Dan Bentley in the City goal.
George Lloyd came close to opening the scoring for Elliot's side but his low-driven shot was well saved by the City shot-stopper.
Just before the half-hour mark Wilson looked to play Nahki Wells through on goal but the City full-back's pass was well blocked.
Matty James played an excellent one-two with Wells before seeing his outside-of-the-boot effort saved well by Max Harris at the near post.
Minutes before the half-time whistle, Joe Williams came close to opening the scoring, heading towards goal from Wilson's cross on the right, however Harris was there again to make the save.
Within minutes of the second half the Robins were awarded a penalty after Rob Atkinson was taken down inside the penalty area.Β Martin stepped up to take the resulting spot-kick but his attempt was over the bar.
Naismith came close to the breaking the deadlock when he headed towards goal from a James cross but his effort was saved by the Cheltenham 'keeper.Β
Just after the 50th minute-mark Martin played Wells through on goal but the Bermudian saw his drilled effort whistle past the far post.
Moments later it was Wilson again with the delivery into the box but Williams' powerful effort was well saved again by Harris.
Tanner put the Robins in front after Cameron Pring's ball into the box eventually fell to the full-back who rifled home.
Andi Weimann came close to doubling City's lead just minutes later but his attempt hit the post and then was cleared.
City's No.19 came close to a second when Andy King played a looping ball over the Cheltenham back line with minutes to go but his header was just wide of the post.
Pring drove down the left in the final minute of the 90, delivering a great ball into the box that Conway slid home to make it 2-0.
Bentley (C), Klose (Towler 60'), Atkinson (Tanner 60'), Naismith (Vyner 60'), Wilson (Idehen 60'), James (Massengo 60'), Williams (King 60'), Dasilva (Pring 60'), Sykes (Bell 60'), Wells (Conway 60'), Martin (Weimann 60')
