Nikki Watts fired a second-half equaliser as Bristol Academy earn their second point of the season in a battling draw with Arsenal at Stoke Gifford Stadium.
Bristol skipper Grace McCatty had an early chance to put the home side ahead but saw her header from Angharad James’ tenth-minute free kick scrambled back to Arsenal keeper Emma Byrne, who was able to smother.
Four minutes later, the Gunners took the lead when, 100-cap England international, Alex Scott’s cross from the right was turned home from 12 yards by Ubogagu.
The Gunners wasted an opportunity to extend their lead in first-half stoppage time when Lianne Sanderson fired wide from 12 yards as Bristol waited for an offside flag that never came.
The hosts came into the game more after the break and deservedly levelled with 20 minutes remaining.
Frankie Brown’s ball in from the right was missed by James but it eventually broke to Watts, whose shot from the edge of the box went in off the post.
Bristol Academy captain Grace McCatty insists her side have turned a corner after recording their second point of the FA WSL 1 season by drawing 1-1 with Arsenal.
After four straight losses to begin their WSL 1 campaign, Bristol have drawn their last two matches, with Willie Kirk replacing outgoing manager Dave Edmondson.
Season Tickets for the 2022/23 campaign are selling at a record pace, with more than 9,000 supporters already committed.
