‘Refocused and raring to go’ - Wynne

Megan Wynne insists the Bristol City Women are reenergised and refocussed as they prepare to take on Reading Women on Sunday, February 9th (3pm).

The Robins return to action for the first time since their 1-0 victory over Durham in the Women’s FA Cup Fourth Round after last weekend’s Barclays FAWSL clash with Tottenham Hotspur Women was postponed due to a waterlogged pitch.

“You could tell with the girls coming in today everyone was buzzing and ready for a new test this week, obviously we had a couple of days to get our heads down and refocus, ready for a big game at the weekend,” said Wynne.

“The girls are full of confidence going into the game, we know what we need to do and how we can exploit their weaknesses. We also know that we’ve got to respect them as they’ve got a lot of quality players, but we’re more than capable of getting a result.

“Reading are doing well this season, they’ve had some good results but we know what they’re about and I think we’re ready for the test and ready for the battle. We know they’re physical and competitive, but we’re definitely ready for the challenge.

“We’ve got to compete, we’ve got to go out there and show what we’re about. We can’t be making individual mistakes, so we’ve got to be hard to break down and in possession keep the ball and do what we do best.”

The twenty-six year old has settled into life at Bristol City quickly after arriving on loan from Tottenham Hotspur in the January Transfer Window and the midfielder has praised the fans for the support they’ve shown in her short time with the club.

“I’ve really settled in, the girls and have been amazing and that staff have made me feel really welcome. I’m ready for this new challenge now and hoping I can add to the squad and go out there and get some results.

“The fans have been great and to see so many people come to that game [against Liverpool] has really showed me the atmosphere and the friendliness of the supporters, as well as how well the Bristol fans get behind the team, so they’re going to be a massive part in helping us push forward.”
