Proud I Wore The City Shirt - JET

Jay Emmanuel-Thomas has urged supporters to spur the Bristol City squad on in the Sky Bet Championship next season.

The former Arsenal youth product has been at the club since July 2013 and will not be offered a new deal when his contract expires this summer. In his two seasons with the club he scored 33 goals in 103 games.

Of his time with City, Emmanuel-Thomas said on his Instagram account: “Thank you Bristol City for the love and support - it’s been a great two years and I’m proud to say I wore a Bristol City shirt.”

The forward’s ability to create something out of nothing and score sensational goals, such as his thunderbolt against Bristol Rovers in the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy in 2013, cemented his status as a fans’ favourite.

Emmanuel-Thomas was happy to leave City on good terms after a tremendous season.

“Leaving winning two trophies and getting promotion is the best way, if there was one,” he said.

“To all my boys at the club, turn up in the Championship…and all the fans, get right behind them!”
