With five Sky Bet Championship games under his belt already this season, Cameron Pring is growing in confidence as the squad prepares for their third league game in the space of eight days (September 18th, 3pm).
On loan at Portsmouth for the first half of the 2020/21 campaign, before being recalled to BS3 in January, the 22-year-old has admitted he didn’t expect to be as heavily involved in Nigel Pearson’s plans when he reported for pre-season as he has been, but he’s certainly encouraged by his development.
Speaking to Robins TV ahead of Saturday’s trip to QPR, Pring said: “The opportunity has given me a lot of confidence, especially as at the start of the season I didn’t expect to play left-midfield.
“Playing there gives me the opportunity to show what I can do without that scary thought of making a mistake at the back. It gives me a lot more freedom and I think I’ve done alright there; I just need to add more assists and goals then I will be a bit more happy.
“If selected, Saturday will be a good contest for me personally. It will probably be one of the better teams I’ve faced in my career.
“It will be interesting to see how it goes but we’ve got a lot of confidence in the team and we can go there and give them a problem, it just needs to click.”
Over 1,800 tickets have now been sold for Saturday’s visit to West London with tickets remaining on sale until 1pm tomorrow (Friday). It is yet to be confirmed if pay on the day will be an option.
Robins TV will be streaming the fixture but as per EFL regulations, it will only be available to overseas subscribers. Coverage will start at 2.30pm.
Despite being reduced to 12 men in the closing stages of the match, England U20 held on to beat France 29-20 in round two of the Six Nations Summer Series.
