Preview: West Brom (H)

Lee Johnson's men are back in BS3 with table toppers West Bromwich Albion in their sights.

Slaven Bilić’s side endured a patchy festive period with defeats to Middlesbrough, Stoke City and Cardiff City at the turn of the year suggesting their place on the throne would be threatened. But they have so far managed to retain top spot, if only to see their points gap bridged in recent times.

It’s a test of stamina though and West Brom have shown they are up for the challenge, having not dropped out of the play-off positions since matchday six.

At the time of writing, Leeds United (59 points) are hot on their heels, as are Fulham (56), Brentford (55), Nottingham Forest (55) and Preston, who sit level on points with City (53).

So, it’s all to play for as the race for promotion from the Championship intensifies in these final few months.

Can Bilić’s men be caught? City know a win on Saturday closes the gap even more and puts pressure on the two clubs hunting automatic promotion.
