Preview: Bristol City Women v Yeovil Ladies

Yeovil Ladies, much like Bristol City Women, embark on WSL 1 this season after a return to the league from WSL 2.

Yeovil were crowned WSL 2 champions in 2016/17 ahead of Bristol City Women in a thrilling season which went to the wire.

Previous meeting

The sides previously met during the Spring Series, where Yeovil Ladies hosted the Vixens at Taunton Town.

Bristol City emerged victorious, with a 3-2 victory courtesy of an 88th minute Chloe Arthur strike.

Tomorrow’s meeting

Both sides come into the derby clash this weekend on the back of opening losses to the WSL 1 and Spring Series champions respectively.

Yeovil, who opened their campaign against Manchester City in front of 1300 supporters at Huish Park, fell to a 4-0 victory on Sunday.

The Vixens, who travelled to Kingsmeadow to take on Chelsea Ladies, were defeated 6-0 on Sunday.

One to watch – Jessie Jones

Jessie is a bright young prospect who came through the Devon Centre of Excellence.

She is currently part of the England Under-18 squad, having previously represented England at Under-16 and 17 level.

Just this week, Jessie was called up to the England Under-19 squad with Flo Allen and Lauren Hemp to play in three UEFA Women’s Under-19 Championship qualifiers against Wales, Slovenia and Kazakhstan.
