Ashton Gate
Saturday, April 18th, 3pm
Tickets SOLD OUT
Bristol City can clinch the Sky Bet League One title with a victory against Coventry City at Ashton Gate this Saturday.
All the key information on Saturday's opponents can be found below:
COVENTRY CITY
The Sky Blues currently lie 16th in the Sky Bet League One just four points above the dreaded relegation zone. They have found goals hard to come by this season scoring just 46, with four players tying their top scorers charts with only six goals each. Coventry’s recent form on the road has been good winning matches at Chesterfield, Fleetwood and Peterborough whilst drawing at Notts County. However, they have lost 43% (9/21) matches away from the Ricoh Arena.
MANAGER
Tony Mowbray – Former professional footballer who played for three clubs in his career – Middlesbrough, Celtic and Ipswich Town. He went on to manager all three sides (Ipswich as an interim manager) and has also managed Hibernian and West Brom. The Scotsman guided Hibs to the top four in the Scottish Premier League two seasons running for the first time in their history before being snapped up by the Baggies in 2006. He saw his side lose in the play-off final in 2007 but secured promotion to the Premier League the following season. After relegation the following year, Mowbray left for Celtic but was unsuccessful and sacked in March 2010. Mowbray took up the reigns at Middlebrough, replacing Gordon Strachan in October 2010 and lost his first game in charge 2-1 to City. He failed to take Boro back to the top flight and left the Riverside after a run of just two wins in 12 matches at the beginning of the 2013/14 season. He took the Coventry job in March.
STAR MAN
Reda Johnson – Beninese defender who signed for the Sky Blues from Sheffield Wednesday last summer. Has amassed over 130 league appearances in his career after also spending time with Amiens and Sheffield Wednesday. He has 27 career goals, six of which have come this season for Coventry making him the club’s joint top-scorer. The 27-year-old has struggled with injuries these season but has played in the last two matches following a three-month stint on the sidelines.
OFFICIALS
David Coote will be the man in charge, assisted by Daniel Leach and Mark Pottage. The fourth official will be John Law.
TICKETS
Tomorrow’s match is sold out.
LAST TIME OUT
Coventry City 1-3 Bristol City – Marlon Pack’s first goal for City opened the scoring at the Ricoh before Kieran Agard doubled the lead just before half-time. Shaun Miller pulled one back for Coventry but Scott Wagstaff confirmed the three points with an injury-time hit.
