Robins boss Tanya Oxtoby has praised her young side’s performance in their 2-1 FA Continental Cup victory over Brighton.
Oxtoby made a number of changes for the cup clash and she was pleased with how her side performed both in and out of possession.
“It was a really positive performance, we rotated the squad to give some players game time and that makes the result all the more pleasing because we want to make sure all players have an opportunity to grow and develop, said Oxtoby.
“It was also a chance for them to implement and apply the principles we have been working on. Brighton is not easy away game by any means, so for us to go there and perform in the manner we did both in and out possession as really pleasing.
“We made no secret we need to be quite robust in terms off not giving anything to our opponents and making them earn it so the way we performed at the weekend out of possession was a great improvement.
“From our perspective to have such a young group on the pitch that includes home grown talent is great for us a club, I think we had 4/5 home grown players on the pitch at the weekend and that shows we’re not just bringing in young talent but also producing it from within.
“We have spoken a lot about getting a bit of momentum, we were excellent at Liverpool and we were really good in patches with what we’re looking to improve, so it’s progressing all the time.
“Tottenham is going to be a really tough one and hopefully we can take the momentum from the last couple of weekends and that can hopefully result in a positive outcome."
