Adam Webster says City can take a lot of positives from their 1-0 defeat to Rayo Vallecano.
Alex Moreno’s 90th-minute strike was the difference between the sides at Marbella Football Centre last night, as the club signed off their pre-season tour.
Speaking exclusively to BCTV, the 23-year-old said: "Obviously it’s disappointing to concede so late on but there are lots of positives to take from the game.
“I thought we were the better team. They introduced 11 new players at half-time so they had the fresh legs, but there’s plenty of positives for us.”
Webster was one of the five summer recruits to travel to Marbella for the seven-day warm weather training camp and the defender was quick to highlight the trip’s benefit.
“It’s been a really good week away,” he continued. “We’ve all fitted in well.
“It can sometimes take weeks or months to develop a relationship with your new team but everyone has settled in well and we are looking forward to the start of the season now.
“I feel good, I feel fit, and now it’s just about putting the gaffer’s principles into our performance. We are getting better each game, as are the relationships on the pitch, and hopefully that will continue.
“We now have a few days to recover before we face Bournemouth in our final pre-season game before the season. It will be another tough test because they are a good side.”
Lee Johnson’s squad will return to BS3 today and prepare for the visit of Eddie Howe’s Premier League side on Friday (July 27th, 7pm kick-off), which comes eight days before the new season kicks off.
Season Tickets for the 2022/23 campaign are selling at a record pace, with more than 9,000 supporters already committed.
