Tin Plavotic’s early header earned City Under-23s a 1-0 victory in their final pre-season friendly against Swansea City.
The Austrian defender rose highest to head in George Dowling’s corner in the 12th minute at Failand, sealing a third straight pre-season victory for Luke Williams’ side.
City dominated for much of the game and, following the early opener, Harvey Smith almost doubled the advantage when his stabbed effort inside the area clipped the crossbar.
Smith had another chance soon after from Diego De Girolamo’s corner kick but he couldn’t beat the goalkeeper with a weak attempt at the back post.
In the second period James Morton lashed a shot inches wide of the upright and, with the last attack of the game, Dowling rattled the crossbar with a stunning drive.
City Under-23s now turn their attentions to the Professional Development League fixture list, which begins with a home game against Sheffield United on Monday, August 14th (7pm), to be played at Ashton Gate.
City Under-23s: O'Leary; Moore, H.Smith, Plavotic (Parsons 46), Golbourne (Trialist 64); Edwards, Dowling (Morton 31), Richards (Dowling 64), Trialist; De Girolamo (Trialist 64); Akpobire (Nurse 64).
