Bristol City Women Captain, Loren Dykes has urged her side to leave it all out in the pitch and finish the season with a strong performance against West Ham United on Sunday.
Dykes and her City Women teammates will be looking to bounce back from last weekend’s defeat to Liverpool and the skipper has encouraged her side to enjoy every minute of their last league outing.
Opportunity to put things right
“It’s the last game of the season, so we obviously want to sign off with a win and put last week behind us and bounce back with a good performance.
“They’re a good side and they have beaten us already this season, we weren’t at our best but they were the better side on the day so there are a lot of things to put right.
“We know that if we put in the performance we’re capable of then we can hopefully go and get the result.”
Enjoy every minute
“It’s important that you don’t dwell on bad performances like last week’s. We’ve done our analysis and reflected on the game and we’ve got to put it behind us.
“We’re a good group of players and we all support each other well, everyone has rallied round each other and we’ve trained well throughout the week so it’s been enjoyable.
“It’s our last full week of training, leading up to our last game and if you can’t enjoy that, then what can you enjoy.
“We need to appreciate that we get to play together one last time and put in a performance that we can be proud of, we owe that to the fans, ourselves and the staff.”
Dangers of West Ham
“West Ham pose a lot of attacking threats, they have very fast and skilful attacking line with the rest of their team being very solid. They have a number of experienced players in there, as well as good group of younger players.
“We know what we’re up against, it’s just a matter of improving on last week’s performance and making sure we’re ready to go.”
Fully focused
“What we have achieved this season has been fantastic, but I won’t fully reflect on that until the season is over.
“We have one game to go and we have targets to hit, we want the three points available and to keep a clean sheet because to finish in sixth would be great and give us a good position to build on for next season.”
Bristol City Women take on West Ham United in their final game of the FA Women's Super League season at the SGS College Stoke Gifford Stadium on Sunday, April 28th (3pm) and supporters can purchase tickets here.
