Perfect Time To Break My Duck - Pack

Marlon Pack admits he couldn’t have picked a better moment to break his goal duck for the season.

With City trailing 1-0 at relegation rivals Fulham, Pack unleashed an unstoppable drive to restore parity for Lee Johnson’s side at Craven Cottage on Saturday.

Lee Tomlin then curled in a 90th-minute free kick to clinch all three points and extend City’s advantage above the drop zone to four points.

Recalling his first goal of the campaign, Pack told Bristol City Player HD: “I’ve been getting a bit of stick for my lack of goals.

“I have been telling everyone that I’m due a goal but I knew I couldn’t keep saying it.

“The timing was perfect really. We were on top in the game at that point and needed to get back on level terms.

“To score in front of that travelling support was incredible for me.

“I remember getting the ball near the halfway line and running all the way to the edge of the box without anyone getting near me.

“I would have taken any sort of goal but it was quite sweet to finish like that.

“Then Tommo has curled in the winner. We often stay behind after training working on free kicks and it’s paid off.

“I was stood right behind it and knew it was in as soon as it dropped over the wall. I’m delighted for him because he’s been a bit of a talisman for us; he’s become one of the lads from the moment he arrived and it’s great.”

Pack fully admits City were not at the races in the first half in West London.

The midfielder added: “The gaffer came in at half-time and said some things, which we fully deserved. We just didn’t get going in the first period.

“In the second half we showed what a good side we can be. To win the game and with the magnitude of it, it’s fantastic.

“Tommo’s goal at the end, in front of all those supporters, and the roar at the final whistle – there were goosebumps.

“It was an emotional game and one we’ll certainly remember.”

Next up are bottom club Bolton Wanderers at Ashton Gate this Saturday and Pack declared: “We know survival is in our own hands.

“The result at Fulham gives us a massive lift going into the Bolton game now.

“We’ve gone from three away wins in a row to a couple of defeats on the bounce.

“But we do seem to keep picking up these decent points on the road. Now we need to do it at home.”
