Perfect start to the festive season - Bryan

Joe Bryan described City's win against Middlesbrough as "the perfect start" to their busy December schedule.

The 2-1 Ashton Gate victory on Saturday evening was the first of seven matches for City this month.

Bryan was the first on the scoresheet against Boro, before Jamie Paterson's volley doubled the home side's lead. A Hordur Magnusson own goal set up a tense end to the game but Lee Johnson's side held out for all three points.

The win lifts City up to third in the Sky Bet Championship, with only goal difference putting the above Sheffield United, who they go head to head with next at Bramall Lane on Friday (7.45pm).

Bryan, making his return to the squad after picking up a hip injury against Preston North End last month, told BCTV: "There are a lot of games to go this month and it was the perfect start. We were live on Sky and beat one of the favourites.

"I think we could have done more but I got a goal and we won so that's all you can really ask for.

"The gaffer, Macca (Jamie McAllister) and Deano (Dean Holden) were screaming at me to get to the back post, especially playing at left midfield and it's Bailey Wright who's crossed the ball into me and I've stuck my eyes through it."

And looking ahead to Friday's televised showdown in South Yorkshire, Bryan said: "It will be a good game against a Sheffield United team who are on real momentum and we know they are dangerous.

"When you look at how well they are doing this year, they are scoring goals, they are playing good football and we know they are a very dangerous team.

"The lads dug in against Hull and it brought confidence in training this week and enthusiasm around the place. Even in the dressing room it has been fantastic, so to be able to get fit and come back into that is brilliant."
