Pearson salutes City’s game management

Nigel Pearson praised City’s game management after the Robins claimed victory in the first Severnside derby of the season.

City kept their composure following Cardiff’s equaliser and were rewarded when Andi Weimann volleyed in the winner in the 70th minute for a 2-1 victory.

That left 20-plus minutes for the Robins to see out the game, much to the pleasure of Pearson, who told Robins TV: “It was a really professional performance. We knew it was going to be tough but I thought we managed the game exceptionally well and everybody played their part.

“The victory is a reflection of our commitment so far this season and we have to find a way of delivering that type of performance every time that we play, and if we do that we’ll win more than we lose – it’s as simple as that.”

Pearson went on to reflect on Weimann and his strike partner Chris Martin, Nathan Baker’s contribution, Antoine’s Semenyo’s introduction as a substitute and the vocal 2,453 travelling support.
