Jamie Paterson could be back in the fold when City host Hull City on Saturday but club captain Bailey Wright may miss out.
The Australian defender has aggravated his thigh and has missed the Robins' last three matches.
He will be assessed should he train with the squad by the end of the week although there is more encouraging news for Paterson, who missed last Saturday's trip to Middlesbrough through illness.
Speaking ahead of this weekend's home clash with Hull, City head coach Lee Johnson told BCTV: "Pato is fine, he was back in training straight after the Middlesbrough game.
"He was involved in a behind-closed doors friendly this week and he got 45 minutes there.
"But Bailey is not quite there yet. He has a slight aggravation on the top of his thigh but we’ll see if he can train on Friday."
