Jamie Paterson says the early signs are positive for City, as they head to Brentford tonight.
Victories over Barnsley and Plymouth Argyle to kick-off the 2017/18 campaign were followed up by a narrow 2-1 defeat at Birmingham City on Saturday.
However, City have bossed the possession stats in each of those games to date and have received plenty of plaudits for the way they’ve been playing.
“You can see from the first three games that the performances have been solid,” Paterson told BCTV.
“We did well against Barnsley at home to take all three points and then progressed in the Carabao Cup with a good performance.
“I thought we played well enough to take at least a point at Birmingham, but it wasn’t to be on the day.
“We’re creating lots of chances though and that’s a good sign. We go to Brentford aiming for all three points and hopefully we can back to winning ways.
“We aren’t downbeat after Saturday’s result; we’re still confident we can go to Brentford and put in a good performance.”
Paterson will see a familiar face in the opposition camp at Griffin Park, having played under Bees boss Dean Smith before.
He added: “I know Dean Smith well. He’s probably one of the main reasons for where I am today.
“He was my Walsall youth team manager. He’s a great guy and a great coach.
“Given the way he sets his teams up, you know they will play total soccer and it will be difficult.”
