Tanya Oxtoby looks ahead to the Robins’ clash with Reading as Barclays FA Women’s Super League action returns this weekend.
City Women had seven players away on international duty and Oxtoby has her full complement of players to work with once again in training and they prepare to travel away and face Reading on Sunday.
“I think all the girls are ready to go. It’s been a long international break, but the girls who have stayed back have worked really hard we’re really keen to get everyone going and get back to the league, said Oxtoby.
“It’s been difficult to keep an eye on all the games going on and what the players loads have been like in the international window, as we’ve got games going on all over the place with players in different age groups but that’s the same for everyone.
“Overall it’s really pleasing for us to have a large group of players gaining international experience at varying levels.”
The Robins hit the road to face Reading at the Madejski Stadium as part of Women’s Football Weekend and the boss is wary of the threats their hosts will pose come Sunday.
“We know that Reading are going to be a tough opponent this weekend.
“They’re a big, physical team that will look to win first and second ball, as well as dominate the set-piece, so we know we have got to be switched on and put in a mature performance if we’re going to come away with a result against them.
“From our perspective large parts of our performances have been positive but there has just been one or two areas that we need to tidy up and that’s what has cost us.
“We’ve worked really hard on those areas during the break, so it’ll be interesting to see where we’re at with them and hopefully we can put in a good ninety minute performance - which is all we ever ask - and the result will be what it will be.”
Bristol City Women next homes game see them take on Manchester City as Barclays FA Women’s Super League action returns to the SGS College Stoke Gifford Stadium on Sunday, November 24th (12:30pm) and supporters can purchase tickets here.
